Travel the world and experience the pressure of competing against fellow classmates, as you and your partner visit exotic locations and ‘warp’ back in time to famous people and events.

How the Race is Played Online

Always remember:

INSTRUCTIONS and RULES:

 

1.   Form a Team

· A team can consist of a maximum of 3 . ( It could be you, by yourself, you and a partner or  you and a  max. of three other people

· Your team must have a Team Leader and a deputy leader (for teams of more than one)

· Once the Team Leader has been decided he or she MUST register the team via email with the following information

· Team Name

· Team Leader Name

· Team Members names (for teams of 2 or more)

· All communications are via e mail .

2. Each Leg of the Race consists of two parts:

 

*** Each RACE LEG carries a max points value of 200 ***

PART A > Multiple Choice Quiz which takes you to a different location somewhere in the world.

· The Quiz MUST be completed at the beginning of each Race Leg

· The Quiz carries 100 points for the team

· The Quiz has 10 questions (multiple choice) that can be researched by clicking on the Web Reference links. (F11 on your Keyboard will expand the web reference site).

· The Team can work together (collaborate) to research the answers

· Teams can attempt each quiz several times to improve their score. Remember the cost is lost time.

· When the Team is confident they have the answers, the Team Leader is to call Georgio to mark the Quiz.

· Once marked the score is FINAL

 

PART B > Detours > Each Detour challenges you to learn a digital skill.

· Each team member MUST complete the Detour at the bottom of each Quiz.

· Each Detour carries a value of 100 points

· EACH TEAM MEMBER MUST submit a detour challenge and cannot move to the next  Race Leg until  submitted. Team support and co operation will be critical

· How Detours are marked?

· For teams of two or members an average score will be awarded to the Team. Eg. Ted gets 65, Mary gets 95 and Theo gets 46. Total score is 215/3 = 71 points for the Race leg

· Detours will need to be emailed or demonstrated to Georgio.

· Detours will often require teams to explore the use of new software to produce a specified product.

· To assist the skills learning Georgio will hold Digital Workshops to show a nominated team member how to use the software

· Teams will need to co operate to achieve good results for the Detours. It is a TEAM effort

3.    FAST FORWARD

· A team may ask Georgio for a Fast Forward

· A Fast Forward is a one off specific ICT or research task.

· Requesting a Fast Forward means the team does not need to complete a nominated Leg of the Race.

· Once the Fast Forward task is completed to the Georgio’s satisfaction the team will be awarded the maximum (200) points for that leg of the race.

· A Team can request a Fast Forward ONLY ONCE during the race.

· Download the Fast Forward image to send as an attachment with the email

4.    YIELD

· Any team that completes any Leg of the Race in 1st place can Yield any other team.

· To yield another team the 1st placed team must e mail a Yield Order to Georgio with a copy to be sent to the Team Leader of the team being yielded.

· Download a Yield Order image to send as an attachment with the email.

· The team being yielded forfeits 50 points on the next leg of the race.

· A yield can ONLY be used once by any team

5.    VICTORY

· The winning team is the team that completes all the legs and detours with the highest points.

· If time runs out, Georgio may declare the game over at any time and declare the team in the lead at that time to be the winner.

· Georgio may invite the winning team to select a Victory Prize.
